2D Materials Fabrication
A central element of our research paradigm is the study of new quantum phases of matter arising in two-dimensional (2D) materials and moiré superlattice materials using microscopy methods.
Since January 2024, our laboratory is equipped with all experimental tools needed to fabricate device samples from exfoliated 2D materials that are not air-sensitive. These include
A 2D-Transfer stage from hq graphene
An AFM with a noise floor of 30pm (2DHR AFM from AFMworkshop)
An optical microscope (customised LV-model from Nikon)
A manual wire bonder (Westbond 7476E)
We also enjoy access to the nano fabrication facilities at the NFF and MCPF central research facilities for the lithography and deposition of contact electrodes.
